Media Sets Obama Up
For GOP Knock Down

In this election year the media has, once again, shown how it can become monolithic by tacitly accepting and adopting a collective viewpoint. This time it is that Barack Obama is the candidate to watch, the candidate to devote major TV and print time to discussing, and to do so virtually without critical scrutiny.

This is a massive disservice to the Democratic Party’s primary voters and to Mr. Obama because it creates a false image of the candidate as a man who is largely invincible, who is all he says he is in every way, who is all he aspires to be, and it leaves the illusion that he will be able to weather all political attacks to win in November and create a dynamic new political reality.

Blanketing Free Speech
By Wiretap Eavesdropping

By William Finucane

Let’s be very clear on this wiretapping controversy: everybody wants protection from terrorists.  Nobody advocates letting killers have free reign over American telephones and planning national destruction without opposition. That would be suicidal.

But George W. Bush has his own skewed view. He says all wiretapping has to be exclusively the province of the executive branch. There was a time when getting a wiretap on a given location or individual inside the Unites States was by done by seeking permission from the courts, then recently that became permission from a secret court. Then that was modified to allow authorities that felt it had to be done quickly to move ahead and do the tapping, then get secret court review after the fact.

Founding Fathers' Truths Loom
Over America’s Worst President

As George W. Bush carries his candle into the dark night at the end of his presidential day, searching desperately and vainly for the belated Christmas gift of a legacy, the powerful ghosts of the Founding Fathers and their imperishable words loom over him and stand to thwart his final efforts to misrepresent and twist history.

It’s now been proven through two non-profit journalistic organizations, the Center for Public Integrity and the Fund for Independence in Journalism, that between the time of the 9-11 attack in 2001 and 2003 George W. Bush and other administration officials issued 935 false statements, the bulk of them asserting that Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction. According to the study, the lies “were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.”

Of course, as everyone knows, there were no WMD’s.

Loose Talk of WWIII

By William Finucane

World War III.

Think seriously about that phrase.

Think, seriously, about using it for the entire world to hear. And think about saying that publicly when you are the leader of the most heavily armed thermonuclear nation that has ever existed on the earth.

George W. Bush did that late last year.  In doing so, he showed the whole world his personal view of mankind.

Global Warming? Where?

There is no such thing as ‘Global Warming,’ says Pres. George Bush and his associates, but as seems to happen frequently, difficult facts continue to emerge contradicting the self-serving statements.

In determining the warmest winters since the weather service began keeping track, there have been five record holding years. One might think that those years cover a century or more and indicate cyclical abnormalities. But that would be optimistic.

The five warmest winters on record are as follows: 1991-1992, 1997-1998, 1998-1999, 1999-2000, and 2005-2006.

And the winner was 1999-2000, at an average of 36.95 degrees.

It appears to us that the evidence is clear; ‘Houston, we have a problem.’

- Points to Ponder -

The following stories are compiled from wire services and major newspapers, as well as original information, and are provided here, in a shorter format, in an effort to illustrate the broad spectrum of political activity that is taking place today, and in the hope that by bringing together such relatively brief, encapsulated accounts, the information will be both welcome to readers who are usually pressed for time, while simultaneously being thought provoking. As always, we welcome comments and observations relating to our stories, with no regard to a defined point of view.

Publisher’s Note: The Bradley Report has for some time now individually dated all of its stories, commentaries and editorials; however, some archived stories, particularly those that are older, are not dated and this has proven confusing for some readers, given that the current date is always displayed on our front page. We apologize for any such confusion and would hope that the context of the earlier stories will help to indicate the publishing dates.
