"Happy New Year" Those of us at The Bradley Report want to take a moment, in presenting our first ‘front page’ for 2004, to wish you our readers, and everyone, a health filled and successful New Year. Happy New Year! We also want to thank those of you who have written us with comments and suggestions; as you know, we’ve tried to be responsive. We’d also like to offer a special thanks to those of you who not only signed your names, but allowed us to print your comments. Only a few people who have contacted us have done so anonymously, but quite a few have asked that their names not be revealed. Some of you have actually told us you don’t want your names used, even in a letter to the editor, for fear of some sort of retribution later, or worries about having your names appear on some government agency list. As we told those of you who made such comments, we think you’re being more paranoid than necessary, but we also realize that your feelings are unfortunately somewhat indicative of the times in which we live. Nonetheless, it is our view that if more of us speak our minds clearly and without fear, there will be no reason for fear. Citizen silence in the face of challenges to democracy can be insidious, and at the least may make it seem as though tacit approval has been given to government policies and actions that in fact are thought by a great many to be wrong. In all events, The Bradley Report will continue to write about anything and everything that appears to cry out for additional comment, and we want to encourage you to send more letters and to participate more fully in discussing the issues. We encourage all points of view; it is clear already that there is a great deal of diversity among the several thousand people who ‘hit’ this site monthly, and we welcome everyone. Again, we wish for a healthy and successful New Year for all of us! Happy New Year! 1/5/04 |
